About
Since 1967, Grace Bible Church has served the town of Little Current and surrounding communities, sharing the love of Jesus.
Our Mission
Our mission statement reads, “We exist to glorify God by working together in obedience to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission by being God centred, people focused and Bible authorized.”
There is only one way to get on the island year-round, and that is the Swing Bridge. We like to think of our role in the community as a bridge to knowing and experiencing the love of God.
History
Grace Bible Church was established by Reverend Jack Gordon and meetings were held in a residence on Blake Street. In 1967 a property was purchased on Draper Street and construction by members of the congregation began immediately. The church building was completed in 1970.
An Evangelical Baptist church, Grace Bible was for many years under the sponsorship of Village Missions which provided both financial and spiritual support. In 1990 the church became entirely self-sufficient, and remains so to this day.
The Jack Gordon family moved to Alberta in 1971 and was succeeded by Pastor Stan Tombs, who remained until 1974. A succession of pastors followed – Pastors Al Kliewer, Jerry Vaughn, Brian Wheaton, Bill Mann, Bill Zylstra, Graham Clark, John Van Kesteren and Paul Van Kesteren. Jonathan Edralin arrived 2020, as the current part-time pastor.
The church building has gone through several renovations over the years. Of note is the 2001 addition of a pastor’s office, library, meeting room, two chair lifts and an entrance ramp which markedly improved accessibility for elderly church attendees.
The congregation praying through the pandemic, and looking forward to a blessed post-Covid future.
